Franks Career
Frank started his career when he showed a keen interest in cycle speedway as a teenager. He first took to the shale with his local team, Morris Motors, before moving onto Whitley Rangers and Whoberley Witches. He was dedicated to the sport and had the ambition, drive and commitment to become a top cycle speedway rider, eventually escalating him to the top becoming a national champion.
After a successful cycle speedway career during the 60's he made the progression to the motor sport of speedway, purchasing his first Speedway machine from four times world champion Barry Briggs. He was taken on contract by his home town and the team he idolised, Coventry Bees. As a young starlet Frank gained valuable experience being loaned out to teams such as Canterbury and Peterborough while doubling up for Coventry.
After two seasons his dedication paid off when he was recalled to Coventry and gained a team place. He became a regular first team rider and had a successful career under the promoter Charles Ochiltree. Riding with team mates, Nigel Boocock, John Harrhy and all time great Ole Olsen, they became regular winners during the 70's wining honours including several British League titles and the Midland Cup. Franks most memorable race was against the late Billy Sanders at the Brandon Stadium which most supporters remember to this day
Frank finely retired from the sport hanging up his leathers in the early 80s to concentrate on running his own business in the seating manufacturing industry, from which he gained his skills with his same drive, ambition and dedication to form the company of Galaxy Seating of today.
Frank is an active member of the World Speedway Riders Association, where he enjoys golf days with former world champions and friends Ove Fundin, Ivan Muager, Barry Briggs and many current champions.
